Metro Denver Homeowners Like to Move

December 16, 2015 | Market Trends

People in metro Denver are moving in record numbers. With just one month left in the year, it is very likely that more resale homes will change hands in 2015 than in any prior year. There were almost 53,500 resale homes with a different owner on November 30th than the party that owned it on January 1st. That number is virtually certain to grow to 56,000+ by the end of December and that will be an all time high.

Interestingly, people that live in the Denver area are more mobile than residents in other parts of the country. The national average is that 4.5% of households move in a given year but it is close to 7% in metro Denver.

Here’s the summary of current market conditions with just one month left in 2015:

The numbers above, as they are every month on this blog, are for homes handled by real estate agents through the metro Denver MLS system. We lump all of the single family and multi-family homes sales together to give you a feel for the overall market. We also do 12-month averages for certain stats as it helps show true market trends.
