Lead-Based Paint Disclosures

December 1, 2020 | Buying

Federal law requires sellers to provide a lead-based paint disclosure to the buyer if the seller’s house was “permitted” prior to January 1, 1978.

As part of that disclosure, the buyer acknowledges receipt of the government publication entitled “Protect Your Family from Lead in Your Home”. At this point, your CHR agent won’t know if you will buy a house, where the disclosure and booklet is required. In case you do, you can access it HERE. This booklet gives you information every buyer should know about lead-based paint.

Even if you are selling or buying a house permitted after January 1, 1978 there may still be lead-based products in the home. It is good to be informed about this issue.
